In a rather passive announcement, John Chen, the CEO of BlackBerry, announced that they have entered into a partnership with Boeing to provide enhanced security for the company’s line of Black phone’s that are powered by Android.

“We’re pleased to announce that Boeing is collaborating with BlackBerry to provide a secure mobile solution for Android devices utilizing our BES 12 platform,” the CEO cheekily said on the call.

The partnership will mainly focus on The BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES) 12, that manages both personal and corporate data as it moves between users and servers. What Boeing and BlackBerry hope to accomplish, is to further secure Boeing’s Black phone, with the power of the BES 12 platform.

Boeing’s Black phone offers a whole range of secure elements, including Disk Encryption, Embedded Secure Components, Secure Boot, And a Modular Design Package for enhanced interchangeability and security for protecting your important data. There have even been reports that the smartphone would include a security feature that would allow the phone to “self destruct” upon being tampered with.
