The fourth game in the Counter-Strike franchise has quietly made its way out to Linux users via Steam. The long-awaited game has been stalled for Linux gamers ever since its release on Windows in 2012. The team responsible for the game have been slowly adding support for the game for quite some time now, but have picked up speed over the past week. The release notes for 9/10/14 state the following:   “[ SYSTEMS ] – Updated a large number of systems necessary for the Linux client.”

SteamDB also shows a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Beta Linux Bin file that has been added to the changed depots. Users have already begun to download and test the game with success. If you have the game or have just purchased it you should see the ability to install it on your Linux machine.
