Hot off the heels of the Windows Phone 8.1 update, the Redmond based company unveiled its next update to its platform in the form of Windows Phone 8.1 GDR1. The Update is relatively small but still brings a few new features and functionality to the platform.
The update includes Live Folders. Which allow Live Tiles to be pushed into a folder and the updates are pushed through the Folder View. General refinements to Xbox Music, are also along for the ride. Apps Corner, is a sandbox mode with access to select apps you choose. VPN through WiFi, Smart Cover Support have also been included. Cortana will also be getting support for other countries as well such as China.
Support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0, that allows for dramatically improved charge times, has also been added. Which is akin to rapid charge on other devices. There are a lot more things that were updated in the release. Look at Windows Phone Blog for more details on the update. Microsoft says that update will roll out to consumers with devices running Windows Phone 8.1 in the coming months.
